Employment History:
From 1972 to 1980 I was employed by Hammett & Edison, Inc., as a Senior Engineer where I was responsible for developing a number of novel computerized methods for propagation prediction, channel allocation studies, and signal analysis.
From 1980 to 1981 I was employed by Harris Corporation, Broadcast Products Division, as an Associate Principal Engineer where I conducted engineering studies in support of international sales efforts and provided on-site management of broadcast construction projects in Africa.
For one 1980 project in particular, I specified all the equipment for a new 20 kW AM radio station to be built in the newly formed Abuja capital district of Nigeria, including a steel building, 300 kW diesel generator with fuel tank, 500 foot guyed radio tower, broadcast transmitters, studio equipment and all the associated electrical and HVAC equipment to make a complete working radio station. Once the equipment had been shipped to the site in Abuja, I flew over there as on-site project manager, assisted by a crew of 2 expat engineers, a separate rigging crew that put up the tower, and several local day workers. The construction was completed and the station on the air in less than a month.
My job at Harris Corporation was my last real job. In 1981 I resigned to start my own consulting engineering practice.
