I am an engineer/entrepreneur who has created and built businesses that develop software tools for designing and optimizing wireless networks.
I now spend my time as an adventure pilot and sailor. In 2014 I completed solo flights to all 7 continents. In January, 2025, I completed a solo voyage to all 7 continents, becoming the first person in history to both fly and sail solo to all the continents.
In 2018 I flew solo across the North Pole from Resolute, Canada, to Longyearbyen in the Svalbard Islands. In 2019 I completed a second around-the-world flight, westbound this time, that passed through Japan, China, Russia and Kazakhstan.
Over five decades I have traveled to more than 100 countries, hitchhiked across Africa, worked on four continents, and lived in England and France. I am the author of Fixed Broadband Wireless System Design (John Wiley & Sons, 2003), Flying 7 Continents Solo (Phywave, 2015), and Sailing 7 Continents Solo (Phywave, 2025). I live on an island in the Pacific Northwest.
